Clarence Harris

Clarence Harris was born in Pomona, California. Shortly after his birth his mother moved them to San Bernardino, California and at the age of seven she bought Clarence a single snare drum. Shortly after that Clarence quickly enrolled in his elementary school band, where he had the pleasure of playing on a full drum set. Unbeknownst to Clarence, his music teacher was close personal friends with the newly elected mayor of San Bernardino, Mayor Holcomb. Clarence’s teacher arranged for him to play at Mayor Holcomb’s election party, where the mayor was quick to take notice of Clarence’s talents. In speaking with the mayor, Clarence mentioned that he did not have a full drum set at home because his mother could not afford one. Knowing that it would be a shame to let Clarence’s talents go to waste, the mayor and his committee got together and bought Clarence his first full drum set.

At the age of 16 Clarence formed his first band, “Stomp”. Clarence played with Stomp until he was in his early 20’s, when he decided to leave San Bernardino and head out to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles Clarence played in a rock and roll band “Seel” and in his free time he also had the pleasure of working in the studio with artists such as Rick James, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Kahn & Diane Reeves.
Years later Clarence would have a chance encounter that would give him the opportunity to travel the world. Being the ever-helpful citizen, Clarence stopped to help a young lady on the side of the road who had a flat tire. As luck would have it, the young lady’s father was the manager of Mighty Mo Rogers. Being ever so grateful for his help, she passed Clarence’s name and number on to her father, who quickly put him in touch with Mighty Mo. Clarence and Mighty Mo began recording together and produced the album “Black Paris Blues”. They began playing their music at blues festivals in and around California, and it wasn’t long before word got out and they were traveling and performing in Paris, London, Switzerland & Belgium, just to name a few.

In 2005 Clarence teamed up with his close friend and guitar player, Larry White, to form the group In-A-Fect. Clarence talents truly enhance this high-energy band and his signature drum solos will only leave you asking for more.
