Rekie Bascones

Born and raised in Stockton, California, Rekie “Ricky” Bascones was raised around a musical family with his father “Eking Bascones” as a big band orchestra leader and his mother a vocalist. Ricky started playing drums at the age of five, guitar at the age of eight and trumpet at the age of ten. In high school he was the first freshman to be moved up to the performing jazz band for Franklin High School playing the bass guitar. He also was in the marching & symphonic band playing the horn. During his four years at Franklin High School he won many prestigious awards, the two most recognizable being in the jazz band. One was the Louie Armstrong Award given to the top senior musician and the other was a Scholarship to the Berkeley School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

At the age of 18 he started playing in the northern California club circuit as a bass player and vocalist. This band would eventually lead him to Las Vegas, Nevada where he has performed in numerous casino resorts and other various venues.

 

In addition to performing on the Soul Train and Hula Bowl, Ricky has also had the privilege to work with many top rated recording artists including Baby Face, Andre Fisher, Natalie Cole, Derek Allen, Chuckii Booker, Larry White and Ice Tea to name a few.  He was also the featured male vocalist with Sheena Easton for a number of years.

 

Since 2017 Ricky has held the number one (#1) spot locally and regionally on Reverbnation in the “other” genre charts.  Still residing in Las Vegas, Ricky continues to write and produce music while working on several business endeavors while touring and performing with In-A-Fect.
