Carnell Upchurch was born and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past 15 years. Carnell began playing the keyboards when he was 10 years old and continued through his high school years to St. Augestine College in North Carolina and continued on to UNLV where he studied recording & engineering.

Growing up in Philadelphia gave Carnell the opportunity to play at an early age with such artists as: Billy Paul, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Philly Cream, The Stylistics, Friends of Distinction and Eddie Holman.

Prior to joining In-A-Fect, Carnell played with well known lounge act “Next Movement”.

In 2006 Carnell joined Larry White and the other members of In-A-Fect. Carnell’s dedication to In-A-Fect has been infinite. His vigorous keyboard playing along with his talent on the talk box can only be challenged by the likes of Peter Frampton & Roger Troutman. Carnell is a valued member of In-A-Fect, with his ability to create incredible soulful and electrifying sounds on his synthesizer, he has the ability to create sounds you will never forget.
